About Us
The Story of simmpli ethnicc
From a Little Girl with a Needle… to a Woman with a Vision
Hi, I’m Nilima Guptta, founder of simmpli ethnicc.
simmpli ethnicc was not born in a boardroom.
It was born in a home filled with creativity, warmth, colours, music, and fabrics.

I grew up as the youngest in a large, loving family — three elder sisters and two elder brothers — where creativity wasn’t encouraged as a hobby.
It was simply a way of living.
By watching, listening, and absorbing, I unknowingly began weaving the foundation of what simmpli ethnicc stands for today.
A Childhood Woven with Creativity
Every member of my family gifted me something timeless:
-
My eldest sister, who stitched clothes for all of us, introduced me to the magic of fabric and needle.
-
My second sister, a classical music lover, taught me rhythm, discipline, and patience.
-
My third sister, an artist, showed me how colours, embroidery, and drawings express emotion.
-
My elder brother taught me courage — through cycling, scooters, and fearlessness.
-
My second brother taught me contentment and groundedness.
-
My father passed down his love for yoga, nature walks, trekking, and reading.
-
My mother taught me celebration — through food, festivals, dressing up, gardening, and simple stitches on old cloth pieces.
In our home, hands were always creating something.
Where My Sewing Journey Truly Began
Every summer, my married sister came home and stitched beautiful clothes for all of us.
My tiny responsibility was to buy matching threads for her designs.
That small task sparked something big.
Though my mother felt I was too young, my father quietly supported my passion and paid my tailoring course fee.
At just young school girl , I joined a neighbourhood tailoring class — a six-month course I completed in four months.
Soon, I was stitching clothes from fabrics for sisters, neighbours, and relatives.
All I needed was fabric. The rest flowed naturally.
That’s when I earned my trust in the family for constructing cloths —
Learning, Growing & Becoming
I completed my post-graduation in Sociology, got married to a supportive husband, and once my son turned four, I pursued formal fashion design education.
I worked for four years in an export house, gaining hands-on experience in:
-
garment construction
-
fabrics & quality standards
-
production processes
-
finishing and detailing
Life then shifted toward motherhood.
With my husband’s transferable job, we travelled across India and abroad — each place adding new textures, cultures, and inspirations to my creative journey.
Through it all, my love for textiles never faded.
It quietly matured.
Reinventing Myself — With My Son & Grandson
Today, my son is married, and I’m blessed with a joyful grandson who fills my world with new energy.
My son encouraged me to learn again, grow again, and share my creativity digitally.
With his belief in me, I decided to reinvent myself — not just as a designer, but as a storyteller of Indian craft.
The Birth of simmpli ethnicc
With the unwavering support of my husband, son, and daughter-in-law, simmpli ethnicc finally came to life.
For years, I dreamt of building a label that would:
-
honour India’s rich weaving heritage
-
support women artisans with dignity and fair pay
-
promote sustainability and conscious fashion
-
celebrate breathable, elegant handloom sarees
-
design for modern women who value comfort, culture, and meaning
simmpli ethnicc is the realisation of that dream.
A brand where elegance meets ethics.
Where handcrafted meets contemporary comfort.
Where every piece is created with intention, respect, and love for the artisan’s skill.
From a little girl holding a needle…
to a woman holding a vision —
my journey is woven into every thread at simmpli ethnicc.
